High School Opportunity

Success starts right here. Right now.

Low Income

College is a great differentiator. Graduates earn on average $1 million more than those with a high school diploma. Across our nation, teenagers attend schools that fail to prepare them for college success. National college entrance exams show that 76% of students are not prepared academically for first-year college courses. College instructors routinely report that well above half of their new students were not adequately prepared by their high school

This failure has disproportionally affected low income and minority communities. Though an increasing number of high-income Americans now earn college degrees, only 8% of low income, minority students graduate from college by age 24.

History

History is made up of a series of defining moments. These are ours. The purpose of this history is to make sure that we learn from our experiences, successes, and shortfalls. Stagnation is our enemy. We must always be moving forward.

A day at school

Staff Morning Meeting

"We have morning meeting where we have the whole team together. We share announcements. We share information about kids. We give each other shoutouts for the teamwork we've seen throughout the week." Kim Frusciante, Dean of Social Studies and Foreign Language Department

Scholars Arrive and Shake Hands Off of the Bus

"The handshake gets you started in the morning. If you come with a bad day, one of the teachers is going to work it out with you for you to have a good day." Gregory Butler, Scholar, Class of 2015

"You feel like you are loved. They don't have to greet you in the morning. They could just let you walk up to the school by yourself, but they don't. They want to see how you're feeling." Darrian Ford, Scholar, Class of 2012

Scholars Go To Class

"Hallways play a particularly important role in the HS experience. Often time, kids come into the next class having had a number of social experiences [in the hallway] that are not all together pleasant. For whatever reason, they are coming into their next period not focused on class. We were able to focus on some aspects of hallway transitions that hopefully eliminate that." Ben Marcovitz, Founder and CEO, Collegiate Academies

"It really taught me structure because… you just have to comply to what is set before you, and you can't stray away from the things you are building on." Stephanie Wyatt, Scholar, Class of 2012

Careers

Teaching is one of the most powerful positions in our greater civilization. Excellent teaching can only be done by the most excellent peoaple who are willing to treat teaching as a mind-blowing science.

Society has yet to recognize the position of teachers in the most meaningful ways. Yet, teachers at Collegiate Academies continue to demand of themselves what society has yet to demand of them: that they never rest, constantly pushing themselves to grow and face their personal and professional challenges. All in the name of success in college and in life for their scholars.

We are looking for people who share this belief about teaching and who are willing to push themselves to grow at the rate we ask our scholars to grow.
