Susan Norwood | Chairman

Susan Norwood is the Chairman of the Board of Sci Academy and the director of the Family Mediation Council of Louisiana. Ms. Norwood has worked in New Orleans schools and with New Orleans schools for four decades as a teacher, counselor, administrator, mediator and consultant. After serving on Sci Academy’s Advisory Board for the past two years, Sci Academy benefits from Ms. Norwood’s intimate understanding of our work. Cala Boddie Colbert | Facilities Committee Chair

“Kay” Colbert, is a Staff Counsel for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Ms. Colbert is a graduate of Agnes Scott College and Tulane Law School, where she served as Articles Editor of the Tulane Law Review. She practiced corporate and securities law prior to joining the court staff. Ms. Colbert is a trustee of her church and has served on the boards of neighborhood and civic organizations. She is deeply committed to improving public education in New Orleans.

Douglas Finegan | CPA | CVA | Treasurer | Finance Committee Chair

Doug Finegan is a 1981 graduate of Louisiana State University and has practiced public accounting ever since. After several years with national firms, Mr. Finegan joined Kushner Lagraize in 1988 and has been a partner since 1995. Mr. Finegan serves clients in a variety of areas with special expertise in accounting and assurance related services. He is also a Certified Valuation Analyst and has qualified as an accounting expert witness in Federal courts and provided expert testimony at trial. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Mr. Finegan has and continues to serve on numerous civic and philanthropic boards and committees in the New Orleans area.

Dana J. Henry

Dana J. Henry has been a licensed attorney in the State of Louisiana since 2000. His wealth of legal experience includes representing the Louisiana Sheriff's Risk Management Fund and its self-insured members and assisting Louisiana Department of Insurance staff attorneys with resolving issues of insurance law including property and casualty and business liability, in administrative hearings. Mr. Henry also worked as a New Orleans Civil District law clerk, drafting memoranda of law and assisting in deliberations on major civil law issues concerning contract disputes, sales and lease, and mineral rights. Since 2005, Mr. Henry has worked as a management consultant providing business management assistance to over 500 small businesses in Texas and Louisiana for the National Urban League and the Louisiana Department of Transportation. M. Henry received his Juris Doctor from the Souther University Law Center in Baton Rouge and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. In addition to his many affiliations in the legal community, Mr. Henry is a member of the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee (OPDEC) and serves as the First Vice President of the East New Orleans Neighborhood Advisory Commission (ENONAC).

William H. Langenstein, III

As a managing member of Langenstein and Associates, Mr. Langenstein one of Louisiana’s leading tax attorneys. He earned his law degree from Loyola University New Orleans and has practiced law in Louisiana State Court, Federal Court, and United States Tax Court. Additionally, Mr. Langenstein has served on several corporate boards including Koerner Capital LLC, IberiaBank, Kavanagh Family Foundation, IMC Investors, Maritime Holdings LLC, Industrial Maritime Carriers Inc, and InterMarine Inc. Mr. Langenstein is also an active member of the community serving on the Bobby Jindal Transition Team, World Trade Center Transportation Committee, Trinity Episcopal School Treasury, Louisiana Children’s Museum Board of Directors, the Audubon Fund, National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana Board of Directors, WYES-TV Board of Directors, New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Commission, and the New Orleans Economic Development Advisory Committee.

Diana Lewis | Development and Communications Committee Chair

Diana Lewis, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a full time volunteer. She is currently the immediate past Chair of the Boards of the Foundation for the Mid South and Nonprofit Knowledge Works; Vice Chairs the Board of the New Orleans Charter Science and Math Academy; serves on the Boards of the New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative, Providence Community Housing, Good work Network, the University of New Orleans Foundation, VIA Link, and the Committee for a Better New Orleans, and on the Regional Advisory Boards of Teach For America/South Louisiana, RAND and City Year/Louisiana. Ms. Lewis’ community involvement has spanned the past 50 years. Former civic leadership roles include Board Chairman of the Greater New Orleans Foundation, the United Way for Greater New Orleans, New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative, Bureau of Governmental Research, Southeast Louisiana Girl Scout Council, Kingsley House and the Junior League of New Orleans.

Ana Menezes | Human Capital Committee Chair

Ana Menezes is a Partner for the Teaching Fellows Programs at The New Teacher Project. In her current role, Ms. Menezes is responsible for overseeing the success of TNTP contracts across Louisiana (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport) and in Indianapolis, IN - working with district and charter school clients, managing site-based staff, and ensuring high quality program results. Previously, Ms. Menezes was the Site Manager for TNTP’s teachNOLA program, recruiting, selecting, training and helping schools hire over 200 alternative route and credentialed teachers for New Orleans public schools. Ms. Menezes began her career in urban education as a Teach for America corps member and elementary teacher in New York City. She holds a M.Ed. in Education Policy from Stanford University and a BA in Political Science from Boston College.

Emily Klein Morris | Secretary & School Excellence Committee Chair

Emily Klein Morris is the Director of Partner Relations at Teach For America. As a veteran classroom teacher and reading coach, Ms. Morris developed pedagogical knowledge as well as an understanding of the most effective school-wide practices to impact student achievement. In her past role as a Program Director at Teach For America, a primary responsibility was to support and develop beginning teachers by using data-based problem solving. As this technique can also be applied at the school-wide level, Ms. Morris helps our schools strategically problem-solve many challenges, while celebrating the progress of the school community. In her current role as the Director of Partner Relations, Ms. Morris works with numerous charter school leaders and has built a network of relationships across the Greater New Orleans region.

Salmon Shomade

Dr. Shomade is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of New Orleans and serves as the Pre-Law Advisor. He received his PhD from the University of Arizona. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Shomade practiced law for several years at various major law firms across the country. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and is a member of the New York, Texas, Georgia, District of Columbia, and Arizona State Bars. Dr. Shomade's current research interests include criminal courts, drug courts, specialized courts, and higher education management. Dr. Shomade has volunteered for several educational organizations in the past and believes strongly in higher education for all children.
